Recentfusion.com—Pokhara: United Club Pokhara has handed over 1 million rupees to a Zoo Construction Committee on Friday, in Pokhara.
Club president Suk Bahadur Gurung including other members handed over the cheque worth rupees one million to Pokhara Regional International Zoo Construction Committee coordinator Himalaya Bakhrel.
The money was collected by organizing an event called Pokhara Festival in Amarsingh Chaur of Pokhara last year. The club has allocated 20 percent of income from the festival that has been organized for around 6 years in Pokhara, to establish a zoo in Pachabhaiya of Lekhanath Municipality.
Speaking in a cheque handing over ceremony, coordinator Bakhrel informed that the preliminary construction tasks are undergoing in the zoo construction site. He also added that they are busy in taking support not only from locals but also from forest ministry.
Committee treasurer Damodar Bhakta Thapa said that the club had handed over 1.5 million rupees to the committee to develop the zoo. However the amount has already been spent to make a zoo gate and to construct the cemented road to zoo. The drinking water system has also already been ready and the construction of a guard room and cage for wounded animals are being built.
