Tax related interaction organized in Pokhara

Recentfusion.com—Pokhara: Entrepreneurs from objective associations affiliated to Pokhara Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI) have participated a tax related interaction jointly organized by PCCI and Inland Revenue Office (IRO) Pokhara on Monday.

Speaking in an interaction, PCCI president Bindu Kumar Thapa said that the tax was a legal responsibility and no entrepreneur should skip the payment of tax. He also said that the entrepreneurs concern on whether the tax they paid is being misused or not.

He also reminded that the issue of house rent tax is in limelight as there is a dispute who- tenant and owner, to pay the house rent tax. He suggested IRO to solve that problem and to include a provision in MoU to pay house rent tax by owner.

IRO Pokhara chief tax officer Lekhanath Sharma thanked PCCI for conducting tax awareness programs and interactions in the past. He also informed that there are all total 70,000 taxpayers in 10 districts of Gandaki and Dhaulagiri zone. Sharma also informed that the IRO Pokhara collected more than 410 million rupees as tax within recent 10 months of period and the office was declared best- A Plus, one among the tax offices.

IRO Pokhara officer Narayan Prasad Bastola spoke about the taxation and related issues in the program. PCCI first vice president Dev Chhetri also expressed his views during the program. Speaking in a program, some of the participants complained that IRO isn’t treating to all entrepreneurs equally as some are paying tax and some are not.
