Nain Singh Mahar elected as NSU president

Kathmandu: Nain Singh Mahar has been elected as a president of Nepal Student Union (NSU), a student wing of Nepal’s largest party- Nepali Congress. Mahar garnered 1496 votes to defeat his nearest rival Manoj Mani Acharya who bagged 1362 votes.

NSU 11 general convention had kicked off on July 28 but it was lengthen as the convention faced representative dispute. The voting was started on Wednesday but it was concluded today’s morning. All total 3250 representatives cast their votes to choose new NSU president including other executives.

Kundan Raj Kafle and Saroj Thapa have been elected as General Secretaries of the NSU. Bikash KC, Sanjay Yadav, Ram Prasad Adhikari, Dilli Ram Subedi and Prakash Rana have been elected as a vice president of province number 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 respectively, informed Bharat Prasad Kharel, chief election coordinator of the convention.
