Pokhara— The 20th edition of Aaha Rara Gold Cup Football Tournament is to be held from January 20 to 29 in Pokhara. A total of 10 teams will take part in the tournament that is going to be organized at Pokhara Stadium.
Host Sahara Club Pokhara (SCP) organized a press meet to inform about the tournament on Monday. According to SCP chairman Hariram Gurung aka Suraj, the club expects Rs 13.6 million income and Rs 10.6 million expenses from the tournament that will take part in Sankata Club, Machhindra Club, Nepal Police Club, Himalayan Sherpa Club, Three Star Club, Tribhuvan Army Club, Nepal APF Club, BYSC Minnesota USA, Manang Marshyangdi Club, and Sahara Club Pokhara. Himshree Foods Pvt Ltd is the main sponsor of the tournament.
The champion team will bag Rs 1.1 million and runner up Rs 501000. SCP has been organizing such tournament for 21 years regularly including Caravan Gold Cup in 2058 BS. The club spends its saving in Surya Bahadur KC Memorial Sahara Football Academy established in 2061 BS in Dobilla of Pokhara- 17. A total of 24 helpless children from 24 districts resort here. The club bears all of their expenses of education, healthcare, sports, and accommodation, Informed SCP general secretary Ramji Prasad Adhikari.
