Maoists withdraw support to the government

Pokhara—CPN-MC has withdrawn its support to the government today. CPN-MC chief of whip Dev Gurung registered a letter at the parliamentary secretariat, citing that the party has lifted its backing to the government. Earlier, on Tuesday, the party Standing Committee meeting had decided to withdraw the support to the government.

The letter signed by Maoists chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal aka Prachanda accused Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli government of failing to control the second wave of Covid- 19 pandemic. Chairman Dahal also accused PM Oli of making nationality a subject of bargaining. Breach of the constitution, formulation of regressive plans, making the politics a dirty game, sabotaging people’s mandate and social justice also are the accusations that Dahal included in that letter.

Now the Oli government turned into a minority after 38 months of its formation. CPN-MC has 50 lawmakers in parliament but PM Oli has already announced that he is going to have a vote of confidence on the 10th of May. Oli needs 134 lawmakers to retain the government.
