Recentfusion.com: Kathmandu–CPN-Maoist Center Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachand has filed a nomination for new Prime Minister of Nepal today in legislative parliament.
Prachanda, who is also a former PM of Nepal, filed nomination with the backing of Nepali Congress and some fringe parties. NC Chairman Sher Bahadur Deuba is the supporter of the Prachanda’s nomination.
Prachand is the sole nominee for the post of PM as CPN-UML including other parties didn’t file any nomination. Speaker Onsari Gharti Magar had scheduled today’s date to file a nomination for the new PM.
The process of new PM selection began as the Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli government lost the simple majority following the withdrawal of CPN-Maoist Center from the government. Knowing that, PM Oli resigned from his post on July 13.
Tomorrow has been scheduled as an election day and Prachanda is going to be a new PM after 7 years again as there isn’t any other candidate for this post.
President Bidhay Devi Bhandari had given a seven days term to political parties to choose a consensual candidate for PM but they failed to select such candidate. Following that, she again had called to elect the majority PM. Out of 595 lawmakers in parliament, Prachanda should bag 298 votes to become a PM of Nepal under the Article 298.
