Pokhara to hold international marathon

By Rup Narayan Dhakal : Pokhara—The Ex-Sportsman Forum Nepal has begun the preparation of 14th Safal Pokhara International Marathon Championship that would be held on February 15.

The championship aims the development of sports sector and would be held in touristy town Pokhara. According to forum’s chairman Tej Bahadur Gurung, around 7000 participants has been expected in the championship. Some 3.5 million rupees fund is to be spent to make the championship happen. 

Winner will bag Rs 0.2 million and first runner up will get Rs 0.1 million. At the same time, 2nd runner up will bag Rs 75,000 and Rs 15,000 will be provided as consolation prize, informed championship coordinator Hari Prasad Parajuli in a press meet held on 30 December, 2019 in Pokhara. A total of Rs 532,000 will be spent for 28 prizes of the championship.   

Similarly, the organization has announced a video challenge of 1 minute regarding the championship. According to a rule, three best videos will be chosen and given prize money in this part. Ex-Sportsman Forum Nepal secretary Krishna Timilsina said that the championship would also be helpful in making the Visit Nepal Year 2020 a successful program.
