Recentfusion.com—Pokhara: Missing Romanian tourist Popescu Adina Monica, 26, was found dead in Annapurna Region in mid Nepal on Sunday, Nepal Police informed.
According to District Police Office Kaski spokesperson DSP Gaju Siddhi Bajracharya, her dead body was found in the bank of Modi river. A team of Police had been sent to Annapurna Base Camp (ABC) area where Adina was heading for. According to her colleague Elena Dobre, Adina remained contactless since 14th July 2016. Adina was on her way to ABC from Pokhara via Chhomrong . She was believed to be a victim of landslide.
She was last seen at Chhomrong, a two day long journey to Pokhara, and was heading to base camp as per her trekking plan. ABC (4130 m) trek, which is also known as Annapurna Sanctuary Trek is a very popular trekking rout among the trekker. Tea houses and lodges are available everywhere on the route.
Trekking Agencies’ Association of Nepal (TAAN) Western Regional Association Pokhara President Ram Chandra Sharma claimed that Edina was trekking on her own without any guide making the document—Annapurna Conservation Area Project entry permit and the Trekkers’ Information Management System (TIMS) card.
Elena Dobre from Marketizator, colleague of Edina has started fundraising campaign in Fundrazr.com to manage the fund for search and rescue campaign. As per Fundrazr, as of today $ 2750 2300 has been collected out of targeted $ 40K. The money is required for specialist team, sniffer dogs and choppers, she claimed. Radu who is also from Marketizator has said to been in Nepal with a belongings of Adina to make the search easy by dogs.
Adina with her Passport number 052736600started her weeklong ABC trekking from Phedi of Kaski- Pokhara on July 11 and was in plan of reaching back to Bucharest on July 18. Marketizator has also started Help us find Adina campaign in its website.
