Pokhara—Five manual workers have been killed as mud mound buried them while they were building a road in touristy town Pokhara in Kaski on Sunday morning.
The accident occurred in Pokhara Metropolitan City ward number 20 at Bisauna of Mauja. According to ward chair Sim Gurung, deceased have been identified as Toman Basnet, Khim Lal Oli, Ganesh Oli, Bir Bahadur Basent and Jogendra Budhathoki. According to Gurung, three dead bodies have already been recovered. Two workers fled the landslide.
Workers were busy in digging the sewer of the roads while the mound collapsed over them. They had been working for 3.5 months in that site.
The road goes through Manipal Hospital Pokhara-Ryalechaur- Mauja Bisauna-Sikles-Manang. Some 170 workers are busy in constructing that road which is being built as part of the connecting road of the metropolitan city. According to District Police Office Kaski spokesperson DSP Rajkumar KC, all the workers were from Salyan district of Nepal.
