Pokhara—A 80-feet-tall Nepali national flag to be hoisted at the shore of Phewa Lake in Damside area of touristy town Pokhara. The flag to be erected in such a way that its reflection to be seen along the reflection of Annapurna range including Mt Fishtail in the lake water.
Pokhara Metropolitan city’s Damside area offers the breathtaking view of long-array of Annapurna range that reflects in the Lake Phewa. Hence, that area is famous for photography and videography among the lensmen and tourists.
Considering this combination of water and reflection, the Gandaki Province government and PMC office are going to develop a Damside Park as a flag park that will covers the area of 17 ropanis. Province’s Chief Minister Prithvi Subba Gurung and PMC Mayor Man Bahadur GC jointly laid the foundation stones to develop Flag Park there on Monday morning. The province cabinet meeting had decided to develop such park on August 1, 2018.
The province government is marking the Internal Tourism Year 2019 now and the government targets 2 million tourists in 2022. Earlier, in 2020 the federal government will try to lure same number of tourists in Nepal. So, according to CM Gurung, the Flag Park will be helpful in luring more number of tourists in Pokhara.
A total of Rs 40 million budget have been projected to develop that park where Rs 10 million to be invested in ongoing fiscal. PMC office is taking initiation to develop the park where half of the total budget will be contributed by the Province Government.
According to PMC senior engineer Soviet Khadka, Binu Construction has got the tender to develop the park where Rs 7.6 million to be invested in first phase. PMC Mayor GC claimed that the park will be eco-friendly which will attract domestic and international tourists in that area.
