Colombo—More than 200 persons were killed and around 560 injured when Easter Sunday serial bomb blasts rocked in 7 places of Sri Lanka including hotels and church this morning, officials confirmed.
According to media reports, the Kochikade Church,Katuwapitiya Church, Shangri La hotel, Cinnamon Grand Hotel, a church in Batticaloa and Kingsbury Hotel remained the targets of the coordinated blasts.
The CNN reports that St Anthony’s Shrine, Kochchikade, St Sebastian’s Church, Negombo, Zion Church, Batticaloa, Cinnamon Grand, Colombo, Shangri-La Hotel, Colombo, the Kingsbury Hotel, Colombo, near Dehiwala Zoo in Dehiwala-Mount Lavinia and a house in Mahawila Gardens, Dematagoda are the blast sites.
Police Media spokesperson informed that the curfew declared with immediate effect from 6 pm today to 6 am tomorrow. Likewise, tomorrow and day after tomorrow have been declared the government holidays.
According to newsfirst.lk reports that three police officers including others were killed in the Dematagoda blasts. According to security agencies, the search operations are undergoing at a house in close proximity to the blast-site in Dematagoda following a tip-off that there are more explosives at the site.
Few persons have been detained in connection with the blasts all across the nation. Almost all the universities have been closed until another notice. After the blasts, US President Donald Trum has condemned the serial explosion and expressed his heartfelt condolences from the people of the US to the people of Sri Lanka in his twitter account.
Similarly, Indian PM Narendra Modi has reached out to President Maithripala Sirisena and PM Ranil Wickremesinghe over the Phone and had conveyed heartfelt condolences on behalf of the Indian people.
