Pokhara—The Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) has lifted the ban on solo riding of paragliding flight across the Nepal. The ban was effective from March 5 as two solo paragliding pilots had lost their lives within a period of three days from March 3 to 5 of 2019.
According to CAAN Pokhara Chief Bhola Prasad Guragain, the ban on solo flight was withdrawn from the decision of March 19 and it was effective from March 24. CAAN also submitted a circular regarding the ban lifting, to Nepal Airsports Association (NAA), Babu Adventure Paragliding Training School and Bluesky Paragliding Training School.
As per the circular the respective company which grants the permission for solo flight to the pilot should also provide information about local weather and landing as well as take off zone. At the same time, CAAN has ordered the companies to carry out the take off of solo flight from a certain location. Similarly, solo pilots are not allowed to take part in any paragliding related championship. Pilots have been told to take permission from NAA before going for paragliding.
