Pokhara—Dr CK Raut announced that he has come into main stream politics leaving his controversial separatism in the name of Free Madhes Alliance. Mr Raut had been facing the series of arrests and releases for years for his activities and speeches but he was recently released on 7 March, 2019 after his five month of custody.
Raut who was known as the leader of Free Madhes Campaign shared a stage with Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli today under a banner of Political Consensus Announcement Program to enjoy open and peaceful politics. Raut had first appeared in Khulamanch of Kathmandu in a program on 31 March 2012 and had delivered a controversial speech. He later urged the lawmakers to put the rights to separatism in the constitution of Nepal.
In a formal program held in Rastriya Sabhagriha today, Raut thanked PM Oli and the Government of Nepal for safe landing him peacefully. He further said that people are sovereign and the change is possible if they wish. “Everybody has won, people won, state won,” he said in the program. Raut also informed that he clinched a 11 point understanding with the government. Home Minister Ram Bahadur Thapa and Dr Raut signed the agreement in a program taken part by PM Oli and Nepal Communist Party co-chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda.
Addressing the program PM Oli said that the decision taken by Raut was an extraordinary one. Raut who is also a former scientist was termed technocrat and thinker by PM Oli during the program. The politics of various groups showing CK Raut will also be closed from now, PM Oli said. At the same time he also urged the Netra Bikram led Nepal Communist Party to come in open politics, leaving bombs and bullets. “Otherwise the government is well aware to maintain the peace,” PM Oli warned Biplav. He further warned Biplav’s party not to do terrorist acts in the name of communist party and communist flag. He also asked him to stop extortion, atrocities and intimidation.
