Pokhara—President Bidhya Devi Bhandari has inaugurated an electric elevator built along the Bindhyabasini Temple in Pokhara this morning. The temple is situated atop a small hill and is popular shrine of Hindu devotees.
Bindhyabasini Temple Management Committee in association built that elevator system in the investment of Rs 10 billion supported by Hyundai Motor Company and Laxmi Group of Nepal . According to BTMC secretary Tirtha Shrestha, elderly and physically disabled devotees will be benefited following the operation of that 60 feet elevator in the temple area.
Addressing the formal ceremony President Bhandari said that such model development works in the temple area help to extend religious and social harmony in the society. She further added that the elevator will also be helpful in the development of religious tourism as well as economic prosperity of the nation.
The elevator with 680 Kg of carrying capacity can bear six persons simultaneously. Gandaki Province Governor Baburam Kunwar, province Chief Minister Prithvi Subba Gurung and BTMC chairman Ganesh Bahadur Shrestha put their views during the ceremony.
