Pokhara welcomes the first international flight

By Rup Narayan Dhakal : Pokhara— A narrow-body aircraft of Sichuan Airlines landed at Pokhara International Airport for the first time as a professional international flight on Wednesday Morning. The aircraft got a water cannon salute at the airport.

The aircraft took off from Chengdu, China, and touched down at the new airport at around 9.6 am. The aircraft carried normal passengers including players who are going to take part in the Nepal-China Dragon Boat Race Festival which will be held in Fewa Lake on June 21 and 22.

China CAMC Engineering-built airport was formally opened on January 1, 2023. Himalayan Airlines aircraft had carried out a test flight during the opening day. Addressing a formal ceremony this morning, Chinese Ambassador to Nepal Chen Song said that the chartered flight opened a new chapter in China-Nepal connectivity and BRI cooperation.

National Assembly Chairperson Ganesh Prasad Timilsina, Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation Minister Sudan Kirati, Gandaki Province Chief Minister Surendra Raj Pandey, Nepal Tourism Board CEO Dhananjay Regmi, Pokhara Metropolitan City Mayor Dhan Raj Acharya also put their remarks in the program.

Xizang Linzhi Mayor Ba Ta, Sichuan Luzhou deputy mayor Luo Suping and Yunnan Normal Vice Chancellor Niu Zhiliang also attended the program.
