Tanahun–The Federation of Nepalese Indigenous Nationalities Journalists (FoNIJ) Gandaki organized a two-day long program to interact about journalism and tourism at Michhurlung in Bhimad Municipality- 5 of Tanahun. The interactions were supported by Ministery for Law, Communication and Province Affairs (LCPA) Gandaki and the Bhimad Municipality respectively.
The first day interaction on ‘Information Technology and Digital Journalism’ was inaugurated by LCPA minister Bindu Kumar Thapa. Addressing a gathering, minister Thapa said that the journalists has a vital role in informing the people. He also suggested the journalists to possess information and technology simultaneously.
At the same time, resource persons Deepak K Shrestha and Pawan Paudel put their presentation on the topic after the formal prgramme that was addressed by FNJ Gandaki vice president Sony Sharma, FoNIJ Gandaki former in-charge Hum Bahadur Gurung, LCPa secretary Sambhu Raj Regmi, ward 5 chairman Padam Bahadur Thapa and FoNIJ Gandaki vice president Khima Gurung.
‘The role of journalists in tourism promotion’ was the second day topic. Bhimd Municipality Mayor Dadhiraj Subedi inaugurated the program where welcome speeches were delivered by FoNIJ Gandaki treasurer Ratna Gurung. Tourism expert Hari Singh Gurung was the resource person in the program that was chaired by FoNIJ Gandaki Chairman Rudra Shrees Magar. FoNIJ Gandaki General Seretary Dhan Bahadur Gurung was master of ceremony.
According to Chairman Rudra Shrees Magar, the two-day program was organized in Michhurlung to promote rural tourism through field reporting. More than 3 dozens of journalists took part in the program. Michhurlung is a Magar dominated village where 20 households run homestay service under Michhurlung Community Homestay Committee. Recently built view tower, cultural dances, organic dishes and Magar Lafa Resort are some of the attractions of the village. Caves, waterfalls and greeneries also could be enjoyed in and around the village. A special gathering of FoNIJ Gandaki also took place in Michhurlung, informed FoNIJ Gandaki immediate past president MB Astha Magar.
