Sahara Academy to receive Rs 150 million from KC family

By Rup Narayan Dhakal : Pokhara—Surya Bahadur KC family is to provide Rs 150 million financial support to Sahara Academy Pokhara within a decade. As per the understanding, the Sahara Club Pokhara (SCP) run academy will receive Rs 1.5 million per year for 10 years.

In a formal program, the KC family clinched a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with SCP last Wednesday on KC’s Memorial Day.  KC’s spouse Prem Kumari handed over the first year of support (Rs 1.5 million) to SCP Chairman Hariram Gurung aka Suraj during a program. KC’s sons- Prakash, Kiran, and Roshan also were present at the program. KC’s elder son Prakash KC expressed his happiness that his family had got an opportunity of co-operation with SCP.

Following this MoU, the academy’s name changed into Surya Bahadur KC Memorial Sahara Football Academy. The SCP has been collecting funds through Aaha Rara Football Tournament and Deusi Bhailo programs to run the academy established in 2058 BS. Some Nonresidential Nepalis also have supported the academy.

According to SCP General Secretary Ramji Adhikari, the academy has 24 helpless male children from 14 districts of Nepal. Himshree Foods Pvt. Ltd run by the KC family is the main sponsor of the Aaha Rara Football tournament. The 20th edition of the tournament is scheduled for coming January, informed SCP Chairman Gurung.
