Pokhara—At least 92 persons lost their lives due to floods and landslides triggered by heavy downpours in Nepal. 36 others went missing and 23 are injured in the incidents. Many settlements and paddy fields are inundated with off-season floods, Nepal’s Home Ministry reports.
Most of the deceased were fromPanchthar, Doti and Ilam districts. Likewise, Humla, Dhankuta, Bajhang, Panchthar, Baitadi, Kalikot, Dadeldhura, Pyuthan, Sunsari, Udaypur also are the affected districts, Phadindramani Pokhrel, Home Ministry spokesperson said. Biratnagar Airport covered with full of water and two major roads Siddhartha Highway and Bhimdutta Highway were blocked due to landslides.
The cabinet meeting held on Wednesday decided to provide Rs 200,000 relief to those who lost their family members. According to Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuwa, people who lost their physical structures would also be supported.
