Oli, Deuba present claim to form new government

Pokhara–Ruling CPN-UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli and main opposition Nepali Congrss Chairman Sher Bahadur Deuba today registered their claim in President Office Sheetal Niwas to form new government as per article 76-5 of Nepal’s Constitution today.

Chairmain Oli claimed that he has the support of 153 lawmakers- 121 from his party CPN-UML and 32 from Janata Samajbadi Party (JSP). Likewise, Chairman Deuba claimed that he has been supported by 149 lawmakers from his party NC, CPN-MC, MK Nepal faction of CPN-UML and a faction of JSP.

Both Oli and Deuba have claimed the support from the MK Nepal faction and JSP. Some of the lawmakers from MK Nepal faction claimed that they have not given any signatures for Deuba. So, the President Office has informed that the basis of claim from both sides to be studied and taken further steps.

Yesterday, President Bidya Devi Bhandari had called the political parties to submit their claim to form a new government as per article 76-5 by 5 PM today. The call came as PM Oli didn’t like to go for floor test as per 76-4.
