Pokhara— Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli failed to obtain the vote of confidence. Oli garnered only 93 votes which are not enough to retain him in PM chair. A total of 124 votes were cast against him and 15 lawmakers remained neutral.
Earlier today, Speaker Agni Prasad Sapkota requested lawmakers to vote for or against Oli as per their wish. President Bidya Devi Bhandari had called a special house session today to decide the fate of PM Oli. Oli was seeking vote of confidence as per article 100 of constitution.
A total of 232 lawmakers were present in todays house session. Ruling CPN-UML and Janta Samajbadi Party Mahanta-Rajendra faction remained neutal. Nepali Congress, CPN-MC and Janta Samajbadi Upendra-Baburam faction voted against Oli. UML MK Nepal faction skiped the house session.
Now the Oli government turned into a caretaker and President Bhandari will call parties to form a new government.
