By Rup Narayan Dhakal : Pokhara—The first Khaste Tal festival is to be held from March 25 to April 4 in Lekhanath. Khaste is one of the 7 lakes of Lekhnath area. According to Khaste Neureni Lake Conservation Development Committee, the festival is going to be organized at the banks of Khaste Lake in Pokhara Metropolitan City- 26.
The committee had organized a press meet to inform about the festival on last Monday. The organizing committee made clear that the festival aims the conservation and promotion of the Khaste Lake. The Khaste Lake covers the area of 269 hectares including the 100 hectares of water area. At a time, when Nepal including the whole world is reeling under Covid- 19 pandemic, the festival committee claimed that they will adopt all the necessary measures against the pandemic during the festival. People have formed a local cooperative that has 732 members who have been fish-farming and conserving the lake for a long.
According to the committee chairman and festival coordinator, Hari Prasad Adhikari, local fish exhibitions and cooked fish items would be the major attractions of the festival. Likewise, cultural programs, concerts, Children Park, garment shops, grocery items will also be included in the festival, informed festival joint coordinator Shivahari Dhungana. There will be 110 stalls in the festival promoted by Nepal Tourism Board.
NTB Pokhara chief Kashiraj Bhandari, FNJ Kaski vice-chairperson Bimala Bhandari, Pokhara- 26 ward chairman Narayan Prasad Baral, Secretary Ishwori Prasad Adhikari, publicity coordinator Ishwor Bhandari and media coordinator Bhimpani Baral also put their views during the press meet of the festival that expects 50,000 visitors.
