Pokhara Festival kicks off in Lake City

By Rup Narayan Dhakal : Pokhara—The 10th edition of Pokhara Festival kicked off in Lake City on Tuesday. Gandaki Province Chief Minister Prithvi Subba Gurung inaugurated the festival amid a formal ceremony organized at Amarsingh Chaur. The United Club Pokhara organized festival ends on January 26.

Chief Minister Gurung felicitated 101-year old former captain Kul Bahadur Gurung and 99-year old Ms Srimaya Gurung during the opening. Addressing the program, CM Gurung said that his government was committed to make the zoological park happen in ward number of 30, 31 and 32 of Pokhara Metropolitan.

United Club chairman Lalkaji Gurung reminded that his club has been working for years to establish a zoo in above mentioned wards. At the same time, he also informed about the festival and its attractions. National Sports Council acting member secretary Rajesh Gurung, ward number 12 chairman Ram Bahadur Karki, Amarsingh School principal Tejswi Baral, United Club first vice chairman Raju Shrestha, general secretary Shanta Bahadur Thapa including others put their remarks during the program.

Garments, automobiles, IT, household use items, children park and programs of dances and songs are some of the attractions of the festival. Earlier a cultural rally marched from Pokhara Stadium to Amarsingh Chaur to begin the festival.
