By Rup Narayan Dhakal : Pokhara—The construction work of Pokhara Football Stadium- Phase I has commenced in Gandaki Province on March 10, 2019. Minister for Youth and Sports Jagat Kumar BK laid a foundation stone at Pokhara Stadium to start the construction work amid a formal function.
The Great Sports Infra Pvt. Ltd. and M.A. Construction Pvt. Ltd. (JV) are the contractors of the joint venture project of Rs 1.2822 budget. The 18,500 capacity stadium will be completed in July 16, 2019. Addressing the formal ceremony, minister BK said that he is hopeful in completing the construction work in the stipulated time. He further added that the new stadium in Pokhara would help to promote Pokhara as an international sports city.
Mr BK claimed that there would be seemed no hurdle during its construction period. Meanwhile National Sports Council member secretary Keshav Kumar Bista sought the new master plan for the development of Pokhara Stadium covers the area of 21.21 hectors. He suggested concerns to develop Pokhara as a sports tourism hub. He further informed that the will be built stadium would be expandable up to the capacity of 30,000 audiences.
At the same time construction company MA Construction’s Anup Acharya said that the construction would be completed within the stipulated time frame if natural and technical problems won’t be happened. There would be 400 meter synthetic track along the turf of the stadium. The steel modular stadium will get synthetic track from Germany and the steel structure from France. Gandaki Province assembly member Rajib Pahari and Western Regional Sports Development Committee chairman Sampanna Shrestha also put their views during the function.
