Pokhara—Hari Kumar Rimal from Nepali Army became the champion of the 13th Pokhara Marathon held in Pokhara on Tuesday. Crossing the stipulated 42.195 Km distance in 2 hours, 40 minutes and 10 seconds, Rimal bagged Rs 1 lakh and other prizes.
Similarly, first runner up Armed Police Force’s Khim Bahadur Khatri received Rs 70,000. He crossed the course 10 second later than winner Rimal. Khatri took 2 hours, 40 minutes and 20 second to complete the course. Likewise, Bhumi Raj Rai of Nepal Police became 2nd runner up. He received Rs 50,000 completing the stipulated distance in 2 hours, 41 minutes and 17 seconds. Army’s runner Purna Tamang got fourth prize.
Participants run in the various streets of Pokhara to complete the stipulated distance of marathon. The race started from Pokhara Stadium and completed in the same stadium. 10 Km women race, 4 Km student race, 400 m wheel chair race for men and women and 100 m blind race also were separately included during the marathon. The marathon aims to promote Pokhara as a city of sports tourism.
Social Development Minister Nardevi Pun, Sujal Dairy Chairman Ganesh Bahadur Shrestha, organizer Ex Athlete Forum Nepal Chairman Tej Gurung, former chairman Khadga Ranabhat including others distributed the prize money to the winners. Safal Milk was the main sponsor of the race.
