Kathmandu—Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli inaugurated the Nepal Shipping Office at Ekanta Kuna of Lalitpur on Thursday. The office will begin further study and exploration of inland waterways under the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport.
It has been one year that PM Oli had assumed his office on February 15, 2018. PM Oli in his India visit had clinched an agreement to operate shipping service in the rivers between India and Nepal. Nepal cabinet meeting also approved 16 staffers for shipping office. Addressing the inaugural ceremony, PM Oli said that the Nepal has entered the era of shipping and the dream of shipping would be come to true after few time.
He further added that the office of the shipping is not for providing job to some people rather is to take the nation a step forward. PM also said that the ticket of shipping service would be available soon. Nepal had come up with a shipping act some 48 years ago but there had not been established any shipping office.
