Trekking entrepreneurs off to Malaysia, Indonesia

Pokhara—With a slogan- Nepal for all season, a group of trekking entrepreneurs from Pokhara has left for Malaysia and Indonesia this morning.

A total of 22 entrepreneurs under a banner of Trekking Agencies’ Association of Nepal (TAAN) Western Regional Association Pokhara are taking part in that promotional tour and the sales mission. TAAN WRA Pokhara Chairman Hari Bhujel informed that such sales mission is carried out by his organization for the first time. He further said that the mission would be helpful in promoting Pokhara as a must go tourist destination in an international market.

Gandaki Province Industry, Tourism, Forest and Environment minister Bikash Lamsal was three in TAAN WRA Pokhara office to farewell the visiting group. Meanwhile, addressing the program, minister Lamsal suggested the visiting entrepreneurs not to confine their visit only in shopping and flying in the airplane. He further however hoped that the visit would be supportive in luring 2 million tourists to Nepal in 2020. He also floated the concept of sky trekking route between Kahun Danda and Dhiki Danda.

At the same time, visiting team coordinator and Nepal Toruism Board (NTB) former executive member Tikaram Sapkota briefed about the itinerary and to be held programs during their visit to above mentioned countries. He also informed that some 22,000 Malaysian and 7,000 Indonesian tourists had visited to Nepal last year. According to him, the visit would be of 10 nights and 11 days. Business to business meeting, interaction programs with tour operators and distribution of promotional materials are the major parts of the mission promoted by NTB.

Pokhara Tourism Council chairman Chirinjibi Pokhrel wished the sales mission team for its successful tour to those two countries. He also wished that the visit be successful to promote Pokhara and trekking routes of Nepal in International market. Tourism ministry formed expert group member Basudev Tripathi also was present at the farewell program.
