Pokhara—Pokhara based young journalist Binod Lamichhane has come up with a new book covering the soccer’s history of Pokhara. Gandaki Province Governor Baburam Kunwar has released that book called ‘Football’ published by former player Ganesh Bahadur Bhattarai.
Addressing the formal program, governor Kunwar expressed his dissatisfaction over the reservation system in the sports sector. He further said that the skill of the player is the more important than the picking up particular person basing on reservation system in the sport sector. He also reminded that the Gandaki Province has allocated budget for the development of sports.
The book also includes the contemporary state of Nepali and Pokhrali football. Author Lamichhane hopes that the book will be a bundle of inspiration to attract new comers in this field. The history and beginning of Pokharali football including the players from these areas also are covered in the book. Football grounds, professional and former players, referees and important tournaments from Pokhara also are the parts of the book.
Former players, Dammar Lal Makajoo, Yagya Bahadur Shai and Rudra Nath Paudel were felicitated for their contribution in Nepali sports sector during the book unveiling ceremony. Gandaki Province assembly member Deepak Koirala, National Sports Council member Rajesh Gurung, ANFA vice chairman Krishna Thapa, former national player Khem Gurung including other people had spoken during the program.
Speaking in the program, publisher Bhattrai said that the book was published in recognition of former and old players. He also hoped that the book will motivate new players to engage in sports sector with full of devotion. Author Lamichhane thanked all the invitees who took part in the program.
