Lekhnath–The 15th Lekhnath Festival kicked off at Talchwok in Lekhnath city on Thursday. Finance Minister Dr Yuba Raj Khatiwada inaugurated the festival amid a formal ceremony. Addressing the ceremony, minister Khatiwada said that the only economic transformation could develop the nation.
He further added that the government has come up with some development plans for the economic prosperity of the nation. He also reminded that the government also has been releasing loans to the persons who returned Nepal leaving their foreign employment. “Such loans would help to generate employments in Nepal,” Minister Khatiwada added.
Suggesting the festival organizer Lekhnath Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) to include local products in the festival, Minister Khatiwada said the economy is the backbone of nation building. Minister Khatiwada further said that the tourism was one of the important factors to boost the economy. According to him, the government is thinking of luring 5 million tourists within a decade.
Lawmaker Khaga Raj Adhikari, FNCCI vice chairman Chandra Prasad Dhakal, FNCCI former chairman Anand Raj Mulmi, LCCI vice chairman Balram Dhakal, general secretary Bharat Kumar Adhikari including other put their views during the program chaired by LCCI president Krishnahari Bhandari.
A total of 350 stalls are installed in the festival that lasts on December 31. Some Rs 20 million transaction has been expected in the festival that includes agriculture, educational, IT, food and beverage, handicrafts, cultural programs and garment related stalls. The saving from festival would be utilize to construct the agriculture items’ trade center in Lekhnath.
