Pokhara—Assostant Attorney General Surnedra Bahadur Thapa has been arrested for allegedly taking bribe from a service seeker in Pokhara on Wednesday morning. According to Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIIA) Regional Office Pokhara Office Spokesperson Ramesh Dhakal, a team of CIIA Pokhara had arrested Thapa with Rs 0.5 million bribe.
Thapa received that bribe from Ramkumar Tandan of Kapilvastu in a condition that he would settle a Tandan’s son Anup’s fraud case which would be barred from forwarding to the Supreme Court. Thapa had left for his office earlier than before today and based on a tip off, the team of anti-graft body had followed him to Office of the Attorney General Pokhara.
Likewise, On Tuesday, Khyam Narayan Paudel and Sanjaya Sharma, the two officials of the Kaski Survey Office, were detained by the CIAA as they were taking a bribe of Rs 50,000 at their office area.
