Pokhara—NIC Asia Bank Nepal ITF Seniors World Ranking Tennis Tournament Grade IV is to be kicked off from Saturday in Pokhara. According to tournament director Ajay Bista, a total of 86 players from Nepal, India and the Netherlands would take part in the tournament organized by Kaski District Tennis Association (KDTA) and supported by Nepal Tennis Association.
The tournament that ends on October 4 would take place in the the tennis courts of Pokhara Stadium. The matches of 35 above, 45 above and 55 above in singles and doubles of men and women categories have been included in the tournament. Winner will bag Rs 30,000 including trophy, first runner up will get Rs 20,000 with trophy and second runner up will receive Rs 5,000 and trophy. Winners and runner up of doubles category will receive Rs 20,000 and Rs 10,000 respectively. According to KDTA treasurer Raju Gurung, a total of Rs 1,073,000 budged has been estimated to host the tournament sanctioned by International Tennis Federation.
During a press meet, KDTA Chairman Dorje Lama said that the tournament would help to promote the tourism of Pokhara. He further added that 16 players from India alone are going to take part this tournament means a lot for the part of promotion of lake city. Dipendra Sharma of NIC Asia Bank, ITF supervisor Prabin Kumar Nayak including KDTA executives were present in the press meet held in Pokhara Stadium. Tennis players Pradip Khadka and Nabin Magar were felicitated in the press meet where four dustbins were handed over to KDTA from Gopi Bahadur Bhattari on behalf of Kaski Tennis Abhibhabak Sangh.
