Pokhara—Radha Krishna Temple Tayamacha Committee Kundahar secured first position in Tayamacha Dance Competition organized by Tershapatti Tayamacha Na Committee and appealed by Newa Khala Kaski in Pokhara on Sunday. Likewise, Bhimsen Tol Tayamacha Committee became first runner up while Mahendrapul Tayamacha Committee turned second runner up in the competition.
First, second and third teams got Rs 30,000, Rs 20,000 and Rs 10,000 respectively. Gairha Patan Tayamacha Committee got Rs 5,000 as consolation prize and Baghbazaar Tayamacha Committee became winner in female category to bag Rs 15,000. A total of 29 teams from various Newar communities took part in the competition which was inaugurated by Pokhara Metropolitan City Mayor Man Bahadur GC on Saturday.
The competition was organized under Gai Jatra Festival which has been celebrated by Newar community every year for decades. According to festival coordinator Bikram Udas, the presentation of Lakshya band and local musical bands, Newari dances, stalls of typical Newari foods also are the attractions of the festival.
Newa Khala Kaski Chairman Ashok Palikhe, festival coordinator Udas, Tershapatti Tayamacha Dance Committee chairman Shree Krishna Katila, PMC ward 3 chairman Rabindra Bahadur Prajoo and main sponsor Saleways Departmental Store’s Sushil Pradhananga including other distributed the prizes to the winners. Tershapatti Misha Pucha and Tershapatti Lhyamha Pucha are also the organizer of the event.
