Damu Adhikari announces his candidacy for PCCI Chairman, panel reveled

By Rup Narayan Dhakal : Pokhara—Pokhara Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI) General Secretary Damu Adhikari has formally announced his candidacy for the 32nd general convention of this organization. A panel of 17 candidates including in all the vital posts also has been reveled in his leadership for the upcoming convention slated for September 21 and 22.

In Adhikari’s team, Yadunath Adhikari is the candidate of senior vice president. Similarly, Geeta Tiwari Gautam in vice president (chamber), Yamnath Paudel (commerce), Kishan Sunar in general secretary, Prem Bhujel in treasurer and Sita Baral in deputy general secretary also are in the Adhikari panel. Narayan Paudel, DB Bhujel, Pabitra Gurung, Tejendra Paudel, Sobit Paudel, Nagendra Subedi, Nagendra Pokhrel, Chandra Sharma, Umaraj Bastola and Rudra Luintel are the candidate for the post of executive member in Adhikari panel.

Organizing a press meet in Pokhara on Sunday, Adhikari also disclosed his 17-point commitments and urged all the concerns not to politicize the PCCI which was established in 2011 BS and is the umbrella organization of private sector in Pokhara Region. Claiming his panel as an inclusive team, presidential candidate Adhikari said that his team felt disappointed as according to him, some of the groups entered the direct politics in PCCI. But Adhikari team itself has been tagged as a leftist panel especially close to ruling Communist Party of Nepal (CPN).

Formation of respectful and good business environment, cooperation in economic development of Pokhara as social responsibility, cooperation with local and provincial government for economic development of the Pokhara region are some of the agendas which are listed in Adhikari’s manifesto. Real implementation of ‘Pokhara as a city of education, health and tourism’, Pokhara as a hub of agriculture, tourism and cottage industries; the development of human resources, Pokhara promotion as an international tourist destination, pressure to government to review recently imposed taxes, systematic parking and the advocacy for timely completion of Pokhara Regional International Airport also are confined in manifesto.

Presidential candidate Adhikari is the Managing director of Shubha Jagadamba Automobiles, Subha Jagadamba Tours and Travels Pokhara, Subha Jagadamba Tire and Trade and Pokhreli A to Z investment Company.
