Beach volleyball tournament undergoing in Pokhara

Pokhara—The club level men’s beach volleyball tournament is undergoing in Pokhara from Friday. A total of 22 teams including 2 of Nepal Army and same number of Armed Police Force teams are taking part in the tournament organized by Kaski District Volleyball Association. Organizer has six teams and other are from various clubs and out of Kaski district.

KDVA team B beat Nepal Army Siddhibox Battalion Phulbari A 21-17, 15-21 and 15-11 in an inaugural match held at Barahi Ghat beach volleyball court in Lakeside Pokhara. Earlier the tournament was inaugurated by Gandaki Province Finance Minister Kiran Gurung, handing over a volleyball to national referee Rajan Paudel.

Labor Ministry secretary Mahesh Prasad Dahal, Nepal Volleyball Association central vice chairman Yam Bahadur Gurung, tournament coordinator Taranath Pahari, association’s secretary Kumar Gurung also expressed their views during the opening ceremony chaired by association president Bhim Parajuli.

The winner team would bag Rs 30,000 and runner up will get Rs 20,000. Secretary Dahal, Nepali Army former Major General Victor Shamsher JBR, Nepal Volleyball Association national coach Kapil Kishor Shrestha, journalist Dhana Basnet and social worker Mahendra Bahadur Godar were felicitated for their contribution in sports sector, during the opening ceremony.
