NAC’s first wide body jet welcomed at TIA

Kathmandu—The wide body Airbus A330-200 jet aircraft of Nepal Airlines Corporation- the national flag carrier has landed at Tribhuvan International Airport at 8.05 NPT today. It took eight hours flight to arrive TIA from France. NA had clinched a deal with Portuguese leasing company Hi Fly to purchase two wide body aircrafts in April last year and the second aircraft would come to Nepal by July end.

The 274 seater aircraft has 18 business and 256 economy class seats. The aircraft is to start its commercial operation from August 1, following the approval of Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal. That aircraft in first phase would operate to Doha, Hong Kong and Dubai. It had already done test flight in France before arriving to Nepal.

The new aircraft which has been named Annapurna and costs USD 209.6M was welcomed by the officials of NAC and CAAN as it touched down TIA. The aircraft which was manufactured by European company Airbus was bought from American AAR Corporation.

NAC General Manager Sugat Ratna Kansakar, NAC corporate director Rabindra Shrestha and two pilots had reached to France to bring that aircraft to Nepal. As of now only two narrow body aircrafts have been operating the international flights from NAC side.
