Pokhara—Nepal Police has made public 6 accused for their involvement in betting of international football and cricket tournaments. Accused are among the kingpin Gaurav Tiwari and former player of Nepali national football team Anjan KC who earlier was arrested in connection with a match fixing case and was released later on bail.
According to SSP Bishwor Raj Pokhrel, Rs 0.2 million including various devices used during betting have been recovered by police. Dawa Lama including other accused are in underground. As per the information, they had carried out an online betting over IPL cricket and English Premier League. Metropolitan Police Range had deployed police teams as the information of cheating by betting was received.
According to police, Tiwari created 24 accounts in a London based website https://msa.lcexch.com/Login and conducted the betting of total Rs 80.4 million. All the accused used to make cash transactions during their betting that was started some 2 years ago in Nepal.
