Two pilots on board killed when Makalu Air cargo aircraft crashes in Humla

Pokhara—Two pilots on board were killed when a Makalu Air 9N AJU sisngle engine aircraft crashed in Humla this morning.

According to Tribhuvan International Airport General Manager Rajkumar Chhetri, the aircraft took off from Surkhet at around 6.12 and lost contact at 6.27. The aircraft was missing after few minutes of taking off.

The crashed aircraft was found in Kharpunath Rural Municipality- 2, Bahunkharka where the three big pieces of broken aircraft could be seen. The cargo aircraft has no passenger but has only two crew members captain Kiran Bhattarai and copilot Aditya Nepali who both lost their life during crash, informed Karnali Province DIG Suresh Saha.

Two Mountain Air helicopters and one Nepali Army helicopter were landed at crashed site for rescue operation. Nepal Police and Nepali Army personnel were mobilized for rescue task.
