By Rup Narayan Dhakal : Pokhara—The Gantabya Dhampus Laligurans Festival 2075 is undergoing at the ground of Prithvi Narayan Secondary School in Dhampus of Machhapuchhre Rural Municipality- 7, Kaski.
The five day long festival was inaugurated by Province 4 Industry, Tourism, Forest and Environment Minister Bikas Lamsal yesterday. According to organizer Laligurans Youth Club (LYC) Chairman Aashim Gurung, the festival aims the promotion of Dhamus in domestic and internation market. Dhampus is a popular hill station that offers stunning views of the Annapurna Range from close distance. Dhampus that situates in the elevation of 1650 meter from sea level has 29 hotels and it is in 18 km driving distance from Pokhara.
Besides tourism promotion, development of sports, conservation of Nepali culture, educational awareness, promotion of handicrafts and conservation of rhododendrons are some of the additional aims of the festival, informed LYC founding chairman Sam Bahadur Gurung who is also chairman of ward 7 of same rural municipality.
According to LYC secretary Suresh Sunar, volleyball competitions, open duet song competition, tableau competition, agro and handicraft exhibition, chhelo, tug of war, live concert are also the attractions of the festival that targets 1 lakh visitors. There are installed 10 stalls of food, garment and agro related items. Machhapuchhre Rural Municipality chief Karna Bahadur Gurung and Annapurna Rural Municipality chief Yubraj Kunwar also put their views during the opening ceremony.
