Day-hike program organized in Pokhara

Pokhara— On the occasion of its Silver Jubilee celebration, Trekking Agencies’ Association of Nepal (TAAN) Western Regional Association Pokhara has organized a day-hike in north-west part of Pokhara on March 17.

The hiking began from Pame and went through Chapakot, Ghaderi, Paliche and ended at Bhumdikot passing the 8 km walking distance. Phewa Lake, Annapurna Range, green hills and village life are some of the attractions that could be enjoyed during the hiking that would be better especially to the tourists who have the short time of stay in Pokhara.

According to TAAN WRA Pokhara Chairman Deepak Raj Adhikari, the hiking in this area could be designed as two days one night package. Pokhara Tourism Council Chairman Kedar Nath Sharma believes that the five hour long hiking route has very good potential to develop as a new tourism product. Nepali culture and agro farming are also the added attractions in this route.

According to entrepreneurs, more than 1,000 tourists have already hiked in this route that also offers homestay facility. Hikers also have option of starting the walk from Phewa Damside to reach Bhumdi and Pame that is the water-source part of Phewa Lake.

Nepal Tourism Board Pokhara Chief Surya Thapaliya hopes that the hiking route would be helpful in strengthening the length of stay of tourists in Pokhara. TAAAN Golden Jubilee Program Coordinator Dambar Bahadur KC, Program Coordinator Bishwo Raj Adhikari, TAAN WRA Pokhara Secretary Sushil Raj Poudel, TAAN WRA Pokhara former Chairman Som Thapa, TAAN WRA Pokhara first Vice Chairman Hari Bhujel including others hiked during the program.
