By Rup Narayan Dhakal : Tadapani (Kaski)—Trekking Agencies’ Association of Nepal (TAAN) Western Regional Association Pokhara in association with Annapurna Rural Municipality and Nepal Tourism Board has recently conducted an exploration and promotional program to connect Birethanti to Tadapani with a new alternative trekking route in Kaski district of Province 4.
As most of the trekking trails in Nepal have been overlapping by dusty motorable roads, TAAN WRA Pokhara has explored this new route in its Silver Jubilee year. The new route touches popular Ghandruk Ghorepani route in Tadapani which is also a starting point of Hidden Lake trek that also was explored by TAAN WRA Pokhara in 2016.
According to TAAN WRA Pokhara Secretary Sushil Raj Poudel, they are going to develop a new trekking route as almost all the trekkers always want something new instead of crowded and dusty off roads walk. ‘So, TAAN here is joining its hands with local stakeholders and government agencies to promote a alternative route.’ he further added. The new route begins from Birethati and goes through Dangsing, Mohoria/Tamu village, Tham Danda, Phurke Danda, Brej Meshro Lake which is a most popular attraction of this route before reaching to Tadapani.
The view of long Annapurna massif, dense forest, rhododendron trees, waterfalls, conventional buffalo shades, wild life including flora and fauna also are the attractions of this route. In this context, the exploration team has marked the altitude and longitude of various points of the route to develop a map and the brochures before kicking off the professional regular trekking in this route. According to TAAN WRA Pokhara executive member Ramchandra Adhikari, the professional trekking in this route begins only after some widening and maintenance that should carry out by the local stakeholders and villagers. ‘TAAN will help to install signage along the confusing points of the route.’ he added.
TAAN WRA Pokhara Chairman Deepak Raj Adhikari informed that his organization is planning to connect this new route to the Hidden Lake trek that begins from Tadapani and goes through Dobato, Pune, Hidden Lake, Tribung and Chhomrong that situates along the popular Annapurna Base Camp trek. According to TAAN, if these two trails are connected, trekkers could enjoy for more than a week in this area. Hotel Super View Top and Restaurant owner Ganga Bahadur Gurung said that the hotel entrepreneurs in Tadapani are ready to develop and promote this newly explored trekking route.
Secretary Paudel, executive member Adhikar, Prakash Bastakoti, Jagan BK, Mansing BK, Deepak Gurung, Amrit Neupane, Lila Subedi and Chudamani Sapkota and journalist Rup Narayan Dhakal were the members of the exploration team.
