14 persons killed in Mexico helicopter crash

Mexico—At least 14 persons on ground were killed and 15 other injured when a military helicopter carrying officials who were assessing damage from powerful earthquake crashed in Sourthern Mexico on Friday.

The Oaxaca state prosecutor’s office informed that five women, four men and three children were died at the crash site and another person died later at the hospital. The crashed happened at the site where the victims of powerful 7.2 magnitude earthquake were taking shelter in open field.

The Defense Department made clear that the Blackhawk chopper met with an accident when it was about to land on a vacant lot in the city of Jamiltepec, about 19 miles from the area of Pinotepa Nacional. The chopper was carrying Interior Secretary Alfonso Navarrete and Oaxaca Gov. Alejandro Murat, neither of whom had serious injuries.
