Pokhara—Three Star Club defeated Nepal APF Club 5-3 in penalties at during the third quarter final of 16th Aaha Rara Football Tournament in Pokhara Stadium on Monday.
Ranjit Dhimal, Nirajan Khadka, Sunil Bal, Bikash Lama and Bijay Dhimal capitalized their efforts for TSC. At the same time, Anjan Bista, Navin Lama and Rajan Bista scored for APF however Rajendra Rawal’s effort was thwarted by TSC goalie Alen Neupane who later got the prize of man of the match.
Following this victory TSC which is the champion of Madan Bhandari Memorial Itahari Gold Cup and four time winner of Aaha Rara Gold Cup entered the semi finals of ongoing tournament in Pokhara. TSC will take on Uttar Brindhara Football Club Bangladesh on January 31 in first semi final match.
The match expanded up to 110 minutes as both the sides failed to convert any goal during the regular 90 minute time. APF missed some scoring chances and the TSC’s two shots collided in the woodwork. APF coach Ratna Kaji Maharjan said that his team lacked the coordination among the players. TSC coach Megh Raj KC said that his players had come Pokhara having a long journey from Itahari by playing Itahari Cup; so, according to him, his players failed to score during a regular time due to tiredness. Nepal Police Club will take on Manang Marshyangdi Club tomorrow.
Earlier the match today, Nepal Army Club player Bharat Khawas was honored with Best Player of the year 2073 in Pokhara Stadium. He got Rs 35,000 including felicitation latter and dosalla. Nepali national football team striker Khawas was felicitated for his contribution for the betterment of Nepali football. Western Regional Football Association Chairman who sponsored this felicitation honored Khawas for the first time.
