Pokhara—A total of 33 students from Annapurnan Secondary School (ASS) have received their scholarship money in a special function organized at Sikles in Madi Rural Municipality- 1, Kaski on January 12.
At the same time, seven other students who joined their college after completing their school study from ASS also got their scholarship money in that program. A total of Rs 2,47,200 distributed to the students from Laligurans Scholarship Fund established by Gunhild Flaamo from Trondheim Norway. 33 school level and 7 college level students have been receiving scholarship from that fund every year since 1996. A separate contingency fund of Rs 0.9 million was also established to robust the Laligurans Fund.
A total of 400 students have been benefited so far from that scholarship fund. Around Rs 10 million from that fund had also been supported to build a primary school building, gate and toilet building in the village. The fund was established with a joint initiation of Flaamo and former ASS head-teacher and Madi Rural Municipality ward- 1 chief Suraj Kumar Gurung who was the chief guest of scholarship distribution program followed by cultural shows. Gurung was felicitated during the program.
Earlier, ASS head-teacher Shekhar Nath Tiwari welcomed all the students, guardians and invitees in the program chaired by ASS Management Committee Chairman Bhim Raj Gurung and hosted by ASS teacher and donor contact person Gehendra Gurung.
