Pokhara—Restaurant and Bar Association Nepal (REBAN) Pokhara has started its preparation to host 19th Pokhara Street Festival to be held from 28th December 2017 to 1st January 2018 at Lakeside. Organizing a press meet, festival coordinator and REBAN Pokhara Chairman Chau Bahadur Gurung informed that a steering committee has been formed and other preparation tasks have been carried out to host the Nepal’s biggest street festival in Lake City.
With a slogan- let’s eat, dance and enjoy in the street, REBAN has been organizing such mega carnival every year on the occasion of new year as per Gregorian calendar, in the 3.5-km long street of Lakeside. Festival coordinator Gurung said that REBAN would like to develop Pokhara as an international destination of New Year celebration.
The event includes various cultural shows and cultural tableaus from mountain, hilly and Tarai region of Nepal. Likewise, such cultural tableaus from Sri Lanka and Korea also are being tried to include in the festival, informed REBAN former chairman Gopi Bahadur Bhattarai. According to Bhattarai, who is also the central vice chairman of REBAN, the issues of discount, packages and security would be addressed and made public within few weeks.
Presentations of mother groups, hymn groups, ethnical tableau, Children Park, folk-duet songs, live concerts and comedy shows would also be the attractions of the festival. Waiter race, sports activities, documentary show, photo exhibition would also be incorporated in the festival promoted by Nepal Tourism Board. REBAN advisor Balram Pahari, vice chairman Laxman Baral and secretary Ganesh Thapa also answered the queries of journalists during the press meet.
