Pokhara—Diya Rana and Niraj Gurung became champion in woman and mans power lifting championship organized by Ranipauwa Sports Centre first time in Pokhara on Friday. Three different events were held before organizing a overall final round. Rana from Bulls Gym lifted 190 kg weight to become a champion. She received Rs 17,000 including other gift hamper.
Punam Pariyar and Jyoti Thapa became first and second in dead lift. Diya Rana, Tika Maya Gurung and Punam Pariyar became first, second and third in squad event. Tika Maya is a gold medallist of 58 kg of Sunil Lal Memorial weight lifting championship held in Kathmandu. Punam is a silver medal winner of sixth national game.
Niraj Gurung lifted 480 kg weight to become champion in mans completion. Mithun Gurung won the dead lift by lifting 210 kg weight. Rajan Shrestha became victorious in bench press by lifting 140 kg weight. Niraj Gurung became champion by lifting 190 kg in dead lift, 130 kg in bench press and 160 kg in squad.
Six women and 22 men took part in the championship. District Sports Development Committee coach Bakhat Man Shrestha and Jivan Ghimire were the members of jury. District Police Office Kaski chief SP Ashok Singh distributed the prizes to the winners. Players Kamal Bhandari and Jivan Ghimire were felicitated during the program.
