Finally constitutions amendment bill failed in Legislature Parliament

Kathmandu: The much awaited constitution amendment bill has been failed in the Legislature Parliament meeting today.

The 2nd amendment bill of Constitution of Nepal, 2073 was presented by the government in the parliament. As many as 347 lawmakers cast votes in favor of the bill while 206 lawmakers voted against the amendment. The opposition parities including CPN-UML and Rastriya Prajatantra Party cast votes against the amendment bill.

As per the constitution, two thirds major of the lawmakers in the Parliament is needed to endorse the bill. Speaking over the bill took place on the constitution bill amendment at parliament before the election. As many as 51 lawmakers expressed their views on the proposed and there were 50 amendment proposals registered on the constitution amendment in the parliament.

A total of 553 lawmakers were present in the parliament. There were required 395 votes out of total 592 of the Legislature Parliament to endorse the bill. The next meeting of the House will take place at 1 pm tomorrow.
