14 houses swept away in Rivan floods, landslides

Pokhara—At least 14 houses were swept away by floods and landslides triggered by incessant rainfall in Rivan of Machhapuchhre Rural Municipality- 5 last night. The displaced families are resorting in their relatives’ houses now.

The flood that happened at Bakhre Khahare in Khahare stream also gutted belongings, cattle and domestic birds, one causeway, one culvert and 7 electricity poles, informed District Police Office Kaski.
The family of Devi Lal Lamichhane, Phomaya BK, Prabin Lamichhane, Ganga Acharya, Sanu Maya Lamichhane, Himal Bhusal, Ganga Bahadur BK, Prem Bahadur BK, Nar Bahadur BK, Kamala Pariyar, Ganga BK, Pralahad Lamichhane, Dambar BK, Khem Kumari BK and Resham Lamichhane are the victims of the flood.

Personnel from Ghachok Police Station, DPO Kaski, Nepal Army and Armed Police Forces have engaged in rescue operation. Every family has been supported Rs 15,000 each by District Administration Office Kaski CDO Tara Nath Adhikari. CPN-MC Kaski also supported 13 pieces blankets and 13 pieces tents.
Nepal Red Cross Society Kaski also supported utensils, rice, vegetables and clothes including bed items to the victim families. According to DSP Khadga Bahadur Khatri, villagers flee their house at night as they knew about the landslide and flood. The flood and landslide cause the loss of 28.2 million rupees’ property.
