Third Sarangkot Festival from Sept 1

Pokhara—The third Sarangkot Tourism Festival 2074 is to be held from September 1 to 10 at Sarangkot of Pokhara Lekhnath Metropolitan City- 18.

According to festival coordinator Kamal Thapa, some 45,000 visitors will reach to observe the 10-day long festival that will see around 50 stalls related to various business and services. Rateuli Songs, musical instrument exhibition and competition, tourist race, cultural and musical programs, artistes’ performances, presentation of typical tableau, children park, agriculture and handicraft goods’ presentation, Duna Tapari making competition and Sarang Sports show are some major attractions of the festival.

Assisted by Sarangkot Samaj Sewa Youth Club, the Smriti Youth Club and Sarnagkot Tourism Development Committee, the Sarangkot Tol Bikash Sanstha Coordination Committee would organize the Sarangkot Festival. Sarangkot is a hill station which is popular among the tourists who visit the hill especially for sunrise and sunset views. Elevated 1592 from sea level, the hill is some 15 minutes drive from touristy town Pokhara.

Sarangkot is also popular take off zone of the paragliding sport. The area was also a section of popular Annapurna Trekking Route. These days, local people are trying to make a trekking triangle connecting Sarangkot, Panchase and Anadu hill. Sarangkot is a same place where one of the giant statues of Lord Shiva is being built.

Ward number 18 chairman Rana Bahadur Thapa, tourism entrepreneur Sobit Baniya, entrepreneur and social worker Prem Bahadur GC, festival media coordinator Santosh GC and organizing committee’s Sushil GC put their remarks during a press meet organized to inform about the festival.
