By Rup Narayan Dhakal : Pokhara—A group of visiting Indian journalists have suggested the Nepal government and private sector to build and improve the infrastructures to lure millions of international tourists including Indians to Nepal.
Taking part in an interaction organized by Western Regional Hotel Association (WRHA) Pokhara to welcome them on Tuesday, Press Club of India Chairman Gautam Lahiri suggested concern bodies to upgrade the condition of roads that are narrow, dusty, bumpy and somehow dangerous. Mr Lahiri who is also a Consulting Editor of Millennium Post in Delhi said that the infrastructures are must to flourish the tourism business anywhere in the world.
Agni Roy as an Assistant Editor from Anandabazar Patrika said that he felt too much irritating due to road condition of Nepal and long journey time even in short distance of road. He also suggested building alternative road from Kathmandu to Pokhara since there is now only one road- Prithvi Highway.
Indo-Asian News Service Senior Assistant Editor Prashant Sood expressed his happiness that they got a chance of visiting beautiful town like Pokhara and suggested the government and private sector to be serious to build and develop the infrastructures to promote the tourism in Nepal.
WRHA Pokhara Chairman Bikal Tulachan informed that Nepali Tourism was hard hit by devastating earthquake, Indian embargo, demonetization and strikes from some disgruntle forces but according to him, the slight recovery could be seen in recent months. He also reminded that WRHA Pokhara had gone to different Indian cities to promote Pokhara-tourism under border town sales mission that would be continued within few weeks again. Mr Tulachan also said that cricket could be a potential tool that could lure the Indian Tourists in Pokhara.
WRHA Pokhara advisor and senior hotelier Govinda Raj Pahari informed that Nepal is trying to focus especially in hydro, tourism and agriculture to uplift the living standard of Nepali. Pahari further added that Pashupati Nath and Mukti Nath areas are very popular for Indian religious tourists. WRHA Pokhara General Secretary Ganesh Raj Pahari informed that Pokhara will have a Regional International Airport within few years and tourists from India can directly fly to Pokhara.
