Captain killed in Nepal Army cargo aircraft crash in Bajura

Pokhara—Pilot colonel Kailash Gurung was killed when a Nepal Army cargo aircraft crashed at Kolti Airport of Bajura in Far Western Region today. Two others injured during the accident, informed Nepal Police.

The aircraft skied off the airport while on the landing at around 12.15 PM this afternoon. Earlier the aircraft was trying to land at Simikot airport in Humla district but was forwarded to Kolti due to windy weather condition. The plane was taken off from Surkhet.

The ill-fated NA-048 sky truck caught fire following the crash however Nepal Army personnel took control the fire. According to media reports and published photographs, the aircraft skied to nearby paddy field while landing.

According to Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal Nepalgunj Chief Pratap Babu Tiwari, injured WOFC Purna Bahadur Khadka and Major Anita Ale was airlifted to Nepalgunj for treatment.
