Pokhara—Senior tourism entrepreneur Sundar Kumar Shrestha has been nominated as a Chairman of Pokhara Valley Urban Development Committee (PVUDC) on Monday.
According to news report, Shrestha who is also a former Chairman of Pokhara Tourism Council and the Western Regional Hotel Association Pokhara was nominated as the head of this valley development committee by the minister level meeting of Department of Urban Development & Building Construction.
Shrestha is also an executive Chairman of the Hotel Kantipur and the Ratna Devi House. Chartered President of Rotary Club of Pokhara Lakeside and former president of Rotary Club of Pokhara, Mr Shrestha has been involving in democratic movement for years.
Following his appointment as PVUDC Chairman, Shrestha vowed to develop Pokhara as a model city. He also said that he would work to give Pokhara an international reorganization. “I would always stand against corruption,” Shrestha said.
The area of then PVUDC and whole the area of recently announced Pokhara Lekhnath Metropolitan City are included within the committee area. Shrestha’s tenure would be for two years. He was appointed as chairman of committee following the resignations of then chairman Prakash Mohan Khanal.
